Texas non-resident hunting question.

Ok, my dad who lives in Minnesota is taking a hunting trip to Texas the end of this up-coming week.

He's originally born and raised just outside of Fort Worth.

He's hunting on my aunts land and I'm not sure exactly where but I believe it's near Grandbury Texas. At least thats where she lived when I was there as a kid.

My dad's gotten on several different websites regarding out of state hunting and he's gotten like 12 different answers. Let's just say computers are not his foray.

So I thought I'd help him out and ask what exactly he needs to do as an out of state resident to hunt in texas. Are there different requirements in different cities or counties? (You never know)

He's hunting feral pigs and something else that I can't remember. He's bringing his .45 and a rifle I know. There are going to be four in the hunting party and it will be mostly on private land.

Hopefully you guys can help me out. I know his fellow Texans can help get the info he needs. Let me know if you need anymore info. I haven't hunted since I was a kid so I'm trying to remember what specific information you might need.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

hogs

Hey Bryan,

Ferrel hogs are not considered game animals in Texas. You can take as many as you want without a license. Javalina, however, are game animals and a license is required. An out-of-stater can purchase a short term license and as I recall it is not very expensive. Every county has its own rules and bag limits. You can find more info on the Texas Parks and Wildlife website.

Cheers

Thanks brother, I'll try that. My dad's not very computer literate and he had trouble finding their website.

Thanks again.

Tell your dad to go to Wal-Mart i(n Texas) and tell them he needs an out of state license for however many days he needs. It isn't that expensive, and all he will need to show is his drivers license...
