Marijuana is classified as a sched 1 drug under the 1970 contolled substances act. What the act did was provide different levels which drugs were useful. So to explain 1 is the worst no use to medicine thus not able to get at all. 5 is least likely to be addictive is useful ect. Cocaine, amphetamines, opiate products are all considered less dangerous than marijuana, and more useful than marijuana.

So being classified as a sched 1 drug also means that it has no medical benefit. On the DEAs website it talks about Marinol which is a manmade version of THC(the drug part of Marijuana) Only problem is it is in a pill, so people that are suffering from nasea report it doesnt work as well as smoking marijuana does.

Before 1970 it was legal to have pot and buy pot. it was called the Marihuana tax act of 1937. in 1969 it was found unconstitutional under the 5th amendment in the court case Leary v. United States. Yes Dr. Timothy Leary(turn on tune in drop out)

Marijuana was used frequently before asprin was. Queen Elizabeth reportedly used marijuana leaves to make tea to help her with cramps.


look at amsterdams stats on crimes after they decriminalized drugs and compare it to the united states.

New York is looking to pass a medical MJ law. It easily passed the assembly and just needs the senate I believe. I hope it goes through because I have stomach/intestinal issues that may qualify for a MJ script. I have done a lot of research on it and my doc is sympathetic.
It is just kind of dumb that a doc can prescribe opiates, but not herbs.

Well, unfortunately banning alcohol won't work.... We know from experience... Neither does banning weed... Ban soda in schools and kids will find a way. It's the same with anything else. While yes, Meth and company should NEVER be legalized, I agree with you on the pot thing. I won't do it myself and (when I am one) as a LEO I would enforce the current laws, as it would be my duty.
