Also locals produced "Trench Art" for sale to tourist after the war.

You may want to check out gunboards.com "militaria forum" for more info. The guys there are very knowledgeable and a great help.

Thanks for sharing.

Sometimes I see things on this board that are just too funny. Thanks for the laugh.

In regards to the knife, very cool piece. If your Grandfather made that then it is quite the family heirloom and should be treasured and handed down for generations.

Do my hands look too fat?! I'm worried b/c I was binge eating pizza last night and I have another photo shoot on Monday. I better do lots of gripper exercises and throw up a few times before then

Thanks for all the info. everyone! I'm gonna try to find someone who deals in military antiquities around my area and see what they say. Seems as though it is some sort of trench art, with less emphasis on art (though like beauty, art is in the eye of the beholder), and more on practicality/usefulness. That being said, the blade isn't sharp at all. So, it's either became dull in the last 64 years or just never had an edge on it.

There's a box with some other cool stuff floating around here somewhere. I definitely remember a N azi belt buckle and lots of medals. I'll have to find it and post some pics.
