Such a sad story. I shoot out at my place and while it's sparsely populated, there's always the possibility of a stray hitting an unintended target.
I pray the youngin' makes a full recovery. The suspect is going through his own hell right now.

That is sad, that's why one should always shoot into a proper backstop.

Fox 2 news just came on and said the girl lost the battle and has moved on to a better place. My prayers are with the family. It's a said lesson to learn and can only imagine the pain the guy that did this is going through. Such a tough way to learn that a backstop is always a must when shooting.

I'm so sorry to hear this. My prayers are with the little girl's family, and the person that caused this.

but whats the point of taking his gun? he said he did it.

Its like why would you test the gun if it has been fired and if the bullet came from that gun if the owner of the gun said "it was from me".

EDIT:

Very sad story. Praying for all involved, it is a terrible tragedy.

As for taking his guns, I would think they would make sure his 9mm was indeed the gun that was at fault, for one thing. He had both weapons there when the incident occurred and they wouldn't have any way to tell the caliber at fault, so they asked for both.

I would imagine he is scared shirtless and volunteered to hand over the guns. Once he found out that he had accidentally shot a little girl, the guns were pretty low on his list.
