Question Idaho members

Me, my wife, my son, and her parents are heading up to the Nampa area in a couple weeks to do some looking around for a possible relocation if I can ever sell my house here in Phoenix. We'll also check out Boise and anything else of interest in the area; any suggestions of things to see or do?

ETA: second question: what are the carry laws in ID? I probably won't OC and I won't be CCW'ing if there's a permit required, but what about vehicle carry? Keep it holstered?

I'm from North Idaho so not a whole lot I can do as far as area of interests/activities in the Boise/Nampa area. But sourpatch and Vandal are both from the Boise area and I sure they will be here to help soon.

I would recommend staying far far away from Boise Junior College and their ugly blue smurf turf

As for as carry laws, ID is and open carry state so you are good to go if you choose to OC and we honor ALL permits from ALL states so you AZ permit is valid. As far as car carry goes and can be loaded and in plain view (IE not concealed) without a CPL but unloaded if you want to conceal it.

Also I sure you know but check out handgunlaw.us for all of Idaho's Laws

A good friend of mine has land on Lake Ponderay and is moving up there in the next few years. After everything he is telling me it is getting more and more tempting. However I don't know how well I could handle the winters and all the snow.

hey im in boise.

OC is in pain view. so when your driving you have to keep it out and in view or you can conceal it if its unloaded/disassembled

do you have ccw from another state? idaho allows most other states....actually i think they allow them all. but im not 100% sure

ok i just checked a few sites and they say that idaho allows all other states CCW.

also you can legally conceal a rifle or shotgun without a CCW

here is a link the the actual firearm laws of idaho
Firearm Laws - Idaho.gov

and another link
Idaho Statutes TITLE 18 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS

the snow isnt bad at all in boise and the rest of the valley.....now up in the mountains is a different story, but boise, nampa, meridian, caldwell and all the other cities in the treasure valley dont get a lot of snow but it can get pretty cold.... especially when there is an inversion, thats the only thing i dont like about the winters here is when there is an inversion since you dont get to see the sun for up to a few weeks at a time and it gets really cold.

but other then that we only get a couple bad snow days a year and for the most part the roads aren't bad except a couple days out of the year.

on year there was a really bad snow storm and a lot of the people here from the the warm states like cali and arizona (we have a lot of people from both)
dont know how to drive on snow so there was over 200 accidents in the boise area

Lake Ponderay is up in my neck of the woods... I can indeed get quite cold and snowy up here... but we have absolutely beautiful springs, summers, and falls... hell the snow is pretty too...

As for temps it was 37 when I left for work this morning at 0730, 10 mile commute on a motorcycle... it was chilly... :mrgeeen:

It is. Coeur d' Alene is Cordalane, a creek is a crick, and so on. You just gotta learn the North Idaho language. Boy do I miss it up there, snow and all. Its the most beautiful country i've ever lived in.

I knew somebody from there would know what I meant. I was too lazy to look up the spelling. Same with Coordelane!
