Need a new truck battery
Any thoughts? I've looked at Optima's but they are very pricey. Exide now makes a dry cell battery just like the Optima but I don't know how much they are. Both are supposed to be awsome but I don't know if they are worth the price. I've heard Interstate makes a good one, but they are regular batteries and are pretty pricey as well.
My truck needs at least 730 CCA's to get 'er done, so I'm looking at a large battery that will be expensive anyway. Help me out. Thanks.

I've used Interstate batteries for years and years and have had no problems. They always last longer than they are rated for.

I put a WalMart battery in my truck about 2+ years ago and it's still going great. Just check the water in it and add distilled water if needed.

The majority of car batteries are created by 3 manufacturers - Delphi, Exide and Johnson Controls Industries. Delphi makes some EverStart models sold in Walmart and ACDelco. Johnson Control Industries makes Duralast seen in Autozone stores, Diehard - sold in Sears, Kirkland - the Costco brand, Motorcraft - which Ford sells, some of the EverStarts, and Interstate. Exide makes Exide batteries, Champion, Napa and even a % of the EverStart batteries. A car battery is one of the few things that you will most likely have to replace if you own a car more than about 3 years. Most other parts and accessories will last longer, but the battery in a car needs replacing every 3 years or so. If you need to get a new battery installed, go to Goodyear, Sears, Firestone or Pep Boys. All these car stores carry large inventories and can install your battery onsite. Other retailers like Target, Kmart, and Walmart might offer cheaper prices for their batteries, but rarely do they install them.

napa, checkers and oreilly all use johnson controls now as well they are good batteries but a battery of that CA is going to cost you about $100 no matter what. i think walmart is using JC as well.
the problem with optimas is no one knows how to charge them. 30amps for 3 hours then 3amps for 10 hours and it will be fine.

Put a Motorcraft in it.
Mine lasted 10 + years! I sell them and the return rate is virtually non existent.
I woundn't give a plug nickle for an Exide. I use to sell them and the return rate was awful!
I sold 2 Motorcrafts this week to a guy that uses them in his diesel F-350. He was just here returning the cores and was telling me that he gets 10-11 years out of them and this guy tows equipement all across the country.

I had two warranty claims on a Duralast in the last four years... since then I've switched to Interstate and have had no problems.

I have had a ton of Optima's over the years, loads of them in loads of different race cars, and I freaking hate them! They work great when they are working great, but they go dead once and you may as well write them off. Now I buy Odyssey dry cell batteries for the race cars.
If I were a man with a bottomless wallet, I would go with the Odyssey Fleet batteries for dry cells. Since I am not, I just replaced the batteries in my Power Stroke with a pair of Kirkland (Costco) batteries. They came highly recommended from loads of other truck guys.
