Man Kills Self At Shooting Range - Orlando News Story - WKMG Orlando

Another gun range suicide. This guy rented the gun just like the rest of them. This is number 4 since April I believe.

How on earth do you propose that these types of events 'be stopped'?

Every suicide so far has been with a rented gun. I do not propose any laws, but if I were a gun range owner, I would only rent to people who bring in a gun to shoot. I believe this is what Shoot Straight is doing.

You've never rented a gun to test the trigger pull, or just to see if you prefer it over your current gun?

Not renting guns at a range is analogous to not renting regulators at a scuba shop! If you owned a range you might be out of business soon, if you prescribe to that train of thought...

Just to clarify, I wasnt meaning that we need to tighten up on things or make new laws or anything like that. I just meant that in general, this kind of thing is getting old.

It's pretty simple; buy into the garbage the anti gunners say, "make guns illegal and there would be no crime".

In reality the guy would slit his wrist, take a bottle of sleeping pills, draino, etc.

Remember folks noone was ever killed or murdered before the invention of the gun.

I think his point is someone bringing a gun with them whether they intend to rent one or not is not likely to be renting one to gain access to a weapon to do themselves in. They could do that anywhere. Actually if you were renting to compare to your current gun, it would be a good idea to bring it for a side by side comparison.

Well, not renting to folks who do not bring a gun with them would help kill the market for new shooters. I go to my range every Saturday and there is always at least one brand new shooter who wants to get into the sport but [wisely] wants to rent a variety of weapons to decide which is right for them...those folks don't arrive at the range with guns...
