I wouldn't want to walk the streets of 'Frisco with a young child and have dirty street people masturbating themselves in front of all the passers by either.

using our hobby? should someone who wants to jump off a bridge have to take a base jumping safety course first?

And the whole "i don't want to be around when someone offs themselves" thing? Get over it. 30,000 people kill themselves a year. The odds of you being around when someone does kill themselves by any means, let alone with a rented gun at a range, is slim to none. You're more likely to be IN a horribly violent car crash than you are to witness a suicide.

My local range simply requires two people to rent a gun. I assume they'll rent to regulars or people who bring their own, but I've never asked -- though I will soon.

Do you want to stop people from committing suicide? I look at it as one less person's health care I'll have to pay for if BHO gets his way.

Wow, I don't know what to say really. A background check won't do any good, those don't point out suicidal tendencies. All they do is show criminal activity. What else is there to say?

I got to thinking about my response to this story and the friggin madness and I am left with only one thought on the issue. Though I hate it for the clean up crew at the range that these idiots use to off themselves, let em do it...heck encourage it. Perhaps soon all the friggin wackos will be done so the rest of us can get on with life sans a bunch whacked out losers. (wow, sorry, that even surprised me)

as an employee of an indoor gun range, I'm at a loss. I can't think of any good answer to keep people from doing this. Most of the people that we have rent guns are people that want to get into guns, but are not sure of what they want. The rental helps with their decision making. I wish there was an easy answer that way it could be implemented, but the simple fact is, you can never know what people's intentions are. Having two people there? Need I remind everyone of the mother that killed her son, then killed herself? Sad thing is, I don't know that it would be horrible for business. There are many twisted people out there that would probably come to our range out of pure curiosity after an incident like this.

Is it wrong of me to propose that we ask for payment in advance now as opposed to "settling up" when they're done?

I say don't change a thing. Why change the rules because of the rare exceptions? This is exactly the way the libs want you to think. It's the "if it saves just one life it's worth it" mentality. No, it's not.
