May have been suggested at some point in this thread; but a range that I frequent here in SoCal has a "friend policy". You must either come with your own gun to shoot, or a friend if neither of you don't have a gun of your own and want to rent.

I guess the premise is, if you have your own firearm, you don't need to go to the range to commit suicide. And the odds are quite high that someone wouldn't go with a friend to commit the act.

One could argue that someone who is suicidal may end up causing harm to his friend int he process, but there are other arguments against that.

Anyways. It's one method of dealing with it.

And what if the other method is getting in his car and putting it into oncoming traffic? What if the other method is suicide by cop? What if the other method is that he snaps and kills a bunch of other people first? what if what if what if what if.... we can sit here and play the game all day long, but in the end you're just speculating.
If I am to follow your logic, there should be no training or licensing for driver of automobiles either?

Kalifornians...lol

just threw that in there to fire you up a little

I would say the differance is those other methods dont give the anti's extra ammo to get higher restrictions on guns. if the gun community itself were to regulate rentals some how to avoid range suicides, it would keep us out of the news for negative things like this.

Solution:
Have a cinder-block enclosed room, with a drain in the center, garden hose bib. Give them a target to practice on, and a chair, and then they can end it. Drain makes for easy cleanup... Take numbers and put a time limit on the room. NEXT!

(being sarcastic of course).

I think we as gun owners should refrain from falling into the mental trap of self-censure every time someone gets killed or injured by guns.

Another gun range suicide. This guy rented the gun just like the rest of them. This is number 4 since April I believe.
Makes economic sense. Why buy when you only need it once?

the idea of somebody just getting hurt or killed by guns is much different from somebody going to the range specifically to use our hobby to kill themselves.

believe me, I dont care about the guy at all.. but I will tell you this, i dont want to be in some range some day with my wife when he blows his head off in the stall next to me.
