Not dangerous just stupid
the other day at the range 3 homies arrive in the lane next to mine and everytime i am reloading one of them looks over my shoulder to try and see what i am shooting. then he finally says "what gun is that?" "Springfield XD45" i say "oh well i got this" he shows me his very Handsome Colt 1911 Stainless "thats nice." He then says "Plastic guns are for pu**ies" "What?" obviously stunned "yea, i bet if you dropped it it would break." I laughed "yes, thats why most HPD cops carry Glocks because they'll break." "whatever, my gun is better, its metal!" rather than argue with him, i just laugh and go back to my shooting He then fires a mag in to his target, taking his time to get good shots. i fire one mag into my target He looks at me and says "look at that!" his target looks like swiss cheese. i laugh once more and then show him the big hole in to middle where the center "X" used to be. "that's what a plastic gun can do" He didn't bother me ever again Idiot

I was swept by a moron who had tried to creep my duck decoys while hunting. Rolled right up to my blind, within 20 feet, and shouldered his shotgun and passed it right over us- while my two companions jumped out of the blind to warn the dude off, I dove to the right and started to shoulder, because I did not know what the hell this cat's intentions were- you get folks that'll burn down your blind, get angry because you're set up too close... this particular fool was creeping ducks and didn't figure out that most birds will fly when you get to within 15 feet. Then he just looked at us, shrugged, and promptly got his GatorTail stuck in the mud within rock throwing range of us. How you do not see three men, two of who stand 6', talking loudly because there are no ducks flying, is beyond me.
I wanted to walk out into the pond and beat him until I died from the exertion- for poaching, being dangerous and a fool in general, and not least of all, making me nervous. I guarantee that if the fellow had been at it all day, he was WAY over his limit. On a side note, I must have some damn good decoys to fool him for that long. as far as ole' girls grip: it doesn't matter if it is a forum approved grip as long as it works for her. if she is hitting the mark and controlling the weapon, good for her. If not she needs some instruction or be kicked out if she is being dangerous.
Many years ago, we used to shoot not at a range but off the side of the road in rural Mississippi (back in the Navy days). One of my shipmates had recently purchased an Uzi carbine 9mm we were all stoked to have the chance to fire it. Several of us were out at our favorite spot with our small arsenal for a shooting session and this dude's wife had her turn with the Uzi. So she steps up to the firing line and rips off a few rounds, never hitting the target of course. Then this idiot whirled around, still holding the carbine like she was going to fire and pointing at everyone she says "wow, this is fun!" It is kind of funny now to think about how EVERYONE there hit the deck and her husband snatching the Uzi from her hands. I don't think she even had a clue she was screwing up. |

Which proves my point that maybe firearm SAFETY should be taught in high schools today. Emphasis on SAFETY, not OPERATION. Back in the day, you could carry your .22 in the trunk of your car, and everyone knew you were going squirrel hunting- now, they don't trust us to dress ourselves in the morning.

I can only think of two off the top of my head.
1.) At an outdoor range, there were a few guys unloading a SKS at high flying skeet targets. They weren't being unsafe really, just not real bright. Everyone else got a pretty good laugh out of it though. Just can't help but wonder where those rounds came down at, as it definitely wasn't in the dirt. Admittedly I've taken pot shots at flying skeet with my XD for giggles, but they were at a trajectory that allowed for metal meeting dirt. 2.) Indoor range this time. I had just finished up a 100 round session with my XD .45 and am in the process of sweeping my brass forward of the line. This fella and his son had rented a little .22 browning target gun apparently (I hope it was rented anyways...). So I'm sweeping up my brass and get a tap on the shoulder, turn around to a .22 pointed at my chest. On a side note, the best thing about outdoor ranges is when the occasional brave squirrel decides to cross the target area. Only seen one actually get hit. .44 mag + squirrel = WOW. |

Well, being female I tell a story on you boys. I was at the local range happily minding my own business. I was shooting my STI Trojan in 9mm, basically just having fun making one hole in the paper. Three guys show up and park themselves in the lane next to mine. One is trying really hard to be the Alpha male and the other two guys have clearly never shot before. They begin shooting a 45 ACP and are not achieving anything remotely resembling a group. Their Just spraying lead all over the place. I felt kind of bad for the beginners, because that’s not how you start off a new shooter. After a while one of the newbies points at my target and asked the Alpha Male why I can shoot like that too. The Alpha said it was because I was only shooting a 9mm and not a real gun like them. So I put my 9mm away, got out my 45 ACP (a Spartan) and made another ragged hole. Smiled at the guys and went back to minding my own business.

I've seen SWAT hold gun sideways when behind the shield. If trained properly and practice I'm sure its just as good as anything else.
As far as stories thankfully I don't have any...yet.
