Even when a weapon is 'safe', that makes your heart skip a beat...

Got one that happened to a friend of mine. Moron shows up to an outdoor range with a 50cal desert eagle. Loud obnoxious, and actually mocks one of the younger shooters firing a smaller pistol.

Obviously never fired a gun before, holds it out one handed sideways. Gangsta Style. Fires one down the lane, not expecting the recoil, and looses control of the gun to his right sending it tumbling along the pavement.

The range master rushes over and escorts the man off the range ordering him to never return. Apparently removing the ammo first and 'forgetting' to give it back.

A few weeks ago, I'm at one of our public (free) ranges; no paid ROs.

There are a good number of shooters present, and one older gentleman (a creditable shot, by the way) was doing a fine job of acting as the RSO. He was firing a nice .22 (siggy mosquito), and apparently had an FTF, with the cartridge stuck in the chamber.

He proceeded to take a cleaning rod, slide it down the barrel from the crown side, and start smacking on it to clear the UNFIRED RIMFIRE cartridge.

After a screamed "WTF are you doing!!!!", and pulling the cartridge with a puller from my toolbox, he asked what the problem was, it didn't fire after a few tries, so there was no primer in it, and it would never have gone off. I put it in the POS Jiminez that I carry in my range box, aimed at a target, squeezed the trigger, and it fired.

He turned white as a ghost and most of us left right about then.

(Please don't laugh at the Jiminez. It was given to me for free by a guy who decided that he was afraid of shooting. Looking at the way this thing is built, he should have been!)

I was at my local range/ gun shop and I went out to the showroom to buy some more ammo. When I walked out of the door, apparently some couple was trying out a laser that was on one of the carbines they had the gun pointed directly at the door I was about to walk through, I opened that door and saw that red light pointed right at me. I dont think I've ever moved out of the way that quickly before. I commented to the clerks on what a poor place to practice aiming it was, he didnt really seem to care.

My girlfriend and I just got from our local range's "ladies night". Before we went into the range to shoot I was waiting for her to use the rest room when this guy comes out of the range and is talking to the guy behind the counter about holsters. The guy behind the counter gets out his backpack and pulls out a holstered weapon and hands it to the guy across the counter without dropping the mag or checking the chamber. The guy is holding the pistol in its holster across his body with the muzzle aimed straight at me! I take a couple of steps back to get out of his line and he turns it a little more so that it is pointed at me again(not intentionally). I again take a couple more steps back and this time the guy behind the counter notices and says something to the guy. He then takes the gun back and ejects the mag and checks the slide. Kind of late in my opinion. Probably won't be going back to that range. What do you folks think?

I've been in a few instances where people assume a holstered weapon is a safe weapon. Pretty sure an A.D. would go right through kydex or leather though.

My first time shooting at the range I forgot to staple my target to the board... But at least I waited until everyone put their guns down and got the go ahead before I ran out and grabbed it. My target decided to wait till it got about 15 feet away to fall.

One of my friends told me that he was showing his XD to a friend and right when he handed it to the kid he waved it around and pulled the trigger at someone. Luckily the owner had checked it before handing it over. Needless to say no one lets him touch anything anymore.

She then takes her next shot and it's about 3 feet from the target so, with her finger on the trigger she points the gun to her head closes one eye and looks into the barrel. She takes another shot and then repeats her actions, I guess to see if there's a bullet stuck in there, before she can do it a third time, my son (Htown), tells her to stop doing that. So the boyfriend or what ever he was comes over takes the gun from her to inspect it, the idiot puts his finger on the loaded gun's trigger sweeps the muzzle around towards her and then in our direction while looking at it to see if why it's not shooting straight, so again Htown tells the guy to stop doing that.

We decided to leave and come back after they had finished. When we got back I picked up about 15 rounds of unmarked .30 carbine from the ground.

you really shouldn't stop people from doing that. it arrests the impending idiocracy.
