Gay cowboys trump Munich, Constant Gardner, Syriana (huh?)
This is really sad.
http://www.drudgereport.com/flash6u.htm I have seen Munich (excellent film, BTW) and have not seen Brokeback Mountian, so this might seem biased, but I find it sad that Speilbergs great film that is very important was so badly overshadowed by a fictional story of gay cowboys. Has anybody seen Brokeback Mountain? Is this film THAT good? The box office receipts are pretty slim for this film so far, compared to Munich, Syriana and Constant Gardner. Should gay cowboys win out over something as important as Munich? Somehow, I don't think so. - Brickboy240 PS - I think even Constant Gardner is a more important film than Brokeback Mountain. NOt as good as Munich, though.

Here's my highly biased and completely uninformed opinion: A huge percentage of film critics are gay. Make a move about gay cowboys, and you're in with the critics.
When I heard of the subject matter of Brokeback, I immediately though of Eric Cartman from South Park who stated that "all Indie movies are about gay cowboys eating pudding" I wonder if there was any pudding in that movie...

I did Not post this to start a debate on gays (oh...lets not go there..ok people?), but on how wierd it seems that this movie carried more "weight" with critics than the other 3 films that seemed MUCH more important.

To you (and to me) the Munich story seems much more relevant that the Brokeback story.

I didnt see the movies, but if you had made the previews with a man and woman I would have thought it just as stupid.
I also do not appreciate seeing two men kiss on previews. and no, I am not homophobic, but there are many things I dont want to see, two men kissing, a 350 pound woman bending over showing ass crack. Different situations, same result.

I think it shows Hollyweirds agenda and bias.
Give the public what it really doesn't want but what the elites want to see and hear, and voila you have an Oscar winner. Give the people a really good movie....and nothing. This is why Hollyweird sucks anymore. They are in the business of making and producing crap, and used to getting paid for it.

I'm sorry, but two gay cowboys.
I don't think any current producers have ever met a 'real' cowboy. The Ranchers in Texas and New Mexico are lined up two blocks long to see this movie.........not.

Hollywood elitists continually feel the need to educate the unwashed masses ( um... us ) because we are so dumb, insensitive and apparently lack their high values.
Every fourth movie is like an Opra episode. Lord knows, if we didn't have their input we'd all just be hatemongers. |
