The Kiowa is a THICK knife. I don't think I would be comfortable with one in my pocket. Besides, there's already a J-frame in there.

The CRKT is a nice knife that will cost a little more. They make a smaller version with about the same shape as well.

Personally, I carry a Cold Steel Ti-Lite. It's got an Emerson-style quillion that flips the knife open as I carry it. It's got a 4" blade though, no good for you.

Thanks for all the responses guys n' gal. Got a lot more insight than I expected. The Michigan 3" rule seems to really limit me. The one's I really seem to like are just over 3 inches.

Some one mentioned the Ken Onion Leek. I was checking that out last night. I think that comes in a 3 in blade. I wonder how the name Leek was inspired?

...still at the drawing board.

The most common steel used in pocket knives is probably either a 420 or 440 steel.

I wouldn't use this as an everyday folder, but I use this knife at work and it is pretty handy, combines a folder with a utility knife. Easier to replace a blade than sharpen one. http://www.quickknife.com/sheffield-mfg.html

That knife just doesn't look agreeable to me. Not tactical enough, maybe? Definetly too rainbowish... :\

"Not tactical enough"-
OK, I've got your solution:
Go get a Spyderco for $40.
Immediately take two $50 bills and burn them.
Get the knife Duracoated, black, $40 (+ shipping).
Take another three $20 bills and throw them into the trash.
Paint the box and the receipt black.
That is the Tactical Extreme Spec-Operator XDTalk '06 Limited Edition.

A Leek is a type of onion. Other knife names by Ken Onion include the Chive and the Scallion.
