At least in this instance, the self-serving stylings of most politicians has actually served the people. They know that if they pass this, people will get pissed and vote them out, so they won't do it right now.
Let the propaganda machine work on it for another year...

Firearms will ALWAYS be a political issue.

Ya, man keep thinking they are not going to do the very thing they said they were going to do, it is coming, they have pledged it will they are waiting for the right time and place to do it, then you recieve a letter in the mail to turn them in with in the next 30 days or have a warrant for your arrest, it is coming, we have the most anti gun POTUS in office now and he has hired the most anti gun AG in history...

One subtle change to take note of is that the anti-gunners have now shifted away from outright ban, and toward "registration."
Remember what Nancy Pelosi says on ABC's "Good Morning America:"
"We want them registered."
A lot of us know what comes after registration. But I fear a lot more fudds will meekly believe the "we have nothing to fear if we are not criminals" logic.
