"Deep Cleaning" a 1911 slide
Hello, this may be a dumb question, but I am looking for a way to "deep clean" a WWII era 1911 slide and frame. There are a couple rust spots and few spots of "gunk". Is there a cleaner that anyone would suggest?

If you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner, see my signature.
It won't address the rust per se, but it will deep clean the slide. If it's light rust, after a soaking in Ed's Red or Dunk It, you might be able to wipe the rust off with a soft cloth. 0000 Steel Wool can work wonders but if it's a highly polished finish you might mar it. It it's Parkerized the steel wool might polish it.
