Concealed Carry Question

I hold a carry permit in NH, my question is dose that apply at work?

I don't carry in work, but keep the gun concealed in my car.

I haven't told or asked my employer, I feel when I'm out of work (on the ride home) I want to be able to protect my self!

Thanks for the input...

I would check your employee handbook. Most employers have rules regarding firearms at the workplace. For example, my employer cites that the no firearms are permitted on their property, which includes the parking lot. I don't bring mine in work, but I do keep it in the car. That's a risk that I'm willing to take versus a daily commute without it.

I've looked though my handbook... Nothing covering this on it.

But realistically even if then said no, I'm with you.

ccw. is exactly what it is, keep it concealed. IF you need it, and you probably woln't, they will probably be ok with it. If they want to search your car for any reason, I'm not sure how your state is, but I'd call the police, and how can you trust the employer that would search your car without reason.

In pa your alowed to carry on any premisis except schools, courthouses, places that serve alcohol, and places that don't permit firearms.

Kentucky has a section in our laws that specifically permit a CCDW holster to carry their weapon into the parking area of their employer and then to disarm and leave the weapon locked in their vehicle without fear of reprisal by employers. Employers cannot, by law, hassle employees for carrying to and from work and leaving their weapon in their vehicle.

I wonder if GA has the same law. Where did you find the info on KY?

Unless you work for a school. My brother's brother in law got fired. He was a bus mechanic and they have dogs that sniff around the parking lot, for dope, weapons etc. He had been shooting and left a .22 pistol in the back of his truck. The dog hit on it. They searched, he was fired. This was in the Ashland Ky area.

It's BS really. Anybody who wants to shoot up a place is going to do so, regardless of any law or any company rule.

IIRC, schools, daycare, and colleges are on the list of places that you cannot carry even onto their property unless they specifically allow it...that being said I don't ever frequent those areas and only retained that info long enough to pass the test. I would have to review the law to be sure.

Here is the link to the Ky State Police Website
http://www.kentuckystatepolice.org/conceal.htm

This will give you a brief synospis of the do's and don'ts, but az thorough search of KY revised statutes will give you better details.

Part of our Kentucky CCW rules covers just that situation. An employer has a right to ban firearms from it's workplace. An employer does not however, have the right to tell you that you are not allowed to have one in your vehicle if it is otherwise legal for you to do so.

If you carry concealed as the permit requires how is anyone to know it is there anyway?

I am kind of curious as to whether the provisions in Kentucky law were in place prior to the BS that Weyerhaeuser pulled in Oklahoma.
