Part of the Kentucky CDW law overlaps probably with another part of their law that states you can legally carry a loaded pistol in your glovebox (locked or not) without even having a license.

I cannot wait to have my mass exodus to the Commonwealth as soon as I've got a secure job.

It depends on how your state law is worded, probably no.

In most states the employer has a right to search your car on their premises, like it or not (I don't). Park on a public street, there is no precedent in law for a private employer to search your car on public property.
If you are parked on company property and there is a weapon in your car then do not consent to search because you have nothing to lose. If you are fired for having a gun on company property then you are screwed! Good luck finding another job with that in your background. Some (few but some) companies actually respect your privacy and having been terminated for refusing a search is not as big of a deal.
The best way to avoid this is to park on a public street, employers do not have a leg to stand on there.

If you are wondering where I am getting all of this, I am not an Attorney but I do have a B.S. (emphasis on BS) in HR Mgmt. I studied more Empoyment Law and precedents than I ever wanted to and also grilled my professor (a retired District Attorney)on this specific issue and everything that I recommend comes from him.

My advice is worth every dime that you didn't pay for it so read up on your state and local laws!

What the hell was this statement about? Getting fired for any reason does not look good to a future employer. In fact if you tell any future employer you were fired from your last job you just cut your own throat. Don't matter what the reason. When I first moved to Houston everybody was giving lie detector test before they would hire you even if it was for a lawn mowing job. Somebody finally put their foot down and passed a law making it illegal. Somebody needs to control the fools in our society. They just don't control them enough.

Try working at a bank (not even in the branch). Not a chance in a very hot place of bringing a gun to work. Fortunately, we are now leasing our own parking spots (previously, spots were leased in name of bank and we were given use) so no need to worry about vehicles (Not that anyone worried our vehicles would be searched for weapons as the parking was off-site anyways).

What's really odd is that I carry into my bank all the time, openly on occasion, and no one bats an eye. I did, however, approach the bank manager about it and make sure he didn't have a problem with it. No problem at all. I'm sure that corporate policy is different for employees though.

I also used to work for a VERY gun friendly employer once. They carried at work constantly and had gun magazines in the bathrooms. The managers used to go out for lunch on occasion and they would stop at the range on the way. Worst shooter bought lunch. They even had a bring your gun to work day and everyone brought ALL their guns in and had pictures taken. Now, after I quit to start my own business, I find out they bought a Barrett .50 cal!! I heard the employees can borrow it and go shooting. Go figure.
