Apartments Uuugghh

Anyone live in an apartment and have your manager
give you a notice that says no guns allowed on property?
How would this be enforceable?Original lease says nothing
about weapons of any sort.Maybe I need to proactively
obtain an attorney?

Just keep things locked up and out of sight. Then don't worry about it. Most they could do is kick you off the property. Then get a lawyer... if you can afford one.

Check your state laws.

Many states have laws that forbid Landlords from doing this.

As long as its not in your signed lease, you are covered legally. They may also have other clauses that state they can terminate your lease for reason's XYZ and only inforce it on "trouble makers". When your lease is up, they have no duty to renew your lease, so if you live month to month they can kick you, without kicking you out.

Alot of people in Louisiana found that out the hard way...apartment survives...month to month lease..."non renewal notice" placed on door, that says get out by october 1st...October 2nd, rent triples for same apartment.

Just another reason to become a homeowner.

I think the manager worded the memo incorrectly. They don't want you to discharge fireworks or firearms on the property on new years eve. BUT on January 1, your free to set up the skeet thrower on the lawn and go to town!

I am sure that would not be a good idea.

Yeah, I would take that as poor writing, meaning to not discharge firearms on their property. This would be against the law anyways and Im sure they are just trying to stick out their chest a bit. If your ready to move and open carry is legal in your state, I would be half tempted to turn your 30 day notice into them while wearing OWB...lol.
