I live in an apartment (for now), and have never heard of such a thing. I read my entire lease before I signed it, and saw nothing in it about firearms on the property.
Your concern sounds like it comes from this "isolated" notice from the management due to the upcoming holiday. I'm guessing it's just for this weekend that they don't want any "dangerous" things that could hurt people on their property (liability issues). I'm sure they'd put the same notice out for the 4th of July, too. I'm assuming this notice you got was either "mailed" to everyone in the complex, or posted in common areas?? You keeping a firearm in your apartment is totally legal and allowed (assuming it isn't in your signed lease otherwise, which you stated it's not). I doubt the management would try to trample your 2nd Amendment rights. Besides, like someone else said, your firearms are out of sight and out of mind. As long as you're not brandishing somehow, they have no say in you having them on their property. I've often gone to/from the range carrying gun cases and a range bag. My shotgun "case" is old-style, and obvious as to what is inside. No one complained or freaked out or went to management. As long as you stay within the law (transportation of weapons, concealed carry, brandishing issues, etc) you'll be fine and the apartment management has no say in anything. Again, their notice is holiday-specific. It's not an amendment to the lease in any way.

Stack them outside the entrance, just to be on the safe side. I'm so glad I don't live in that state. I couldn't stand it.

My complex is nice. Manager came by with a repairman to fix the tile (its a new complex, and there was a defect). I had already given permission to enter since I thought I wasn't going to be home, which I told them. Well, they unlock the door and walk in and there I am cleaning one of my guns! I had gotten off work early. So I start thinking "oh crap, I'm gonna catch shi* for this" even though I knew there was nothing in my lease prohibiting firearms. To my surprise it starts a whole conversation up between the three of us about how much we all like to go shooting. The manager (female) is a gun owner, and the repairman shoots every 2 weeks with his wife. I wouldn't move. I love my apartment, and if they condo covert it like they're doing all over town I'm buying it, but that was just icing.

Wow, thanks for bringing this up!
I just reread my entire rental agreement and luckily there isn't such a thing written into the contract! Would it even be legal to put that written in a contract and it hold up in court?
