I was over on rimfirecentral.com and there is a ton of info on the p22. Basically i found out that everybody there says one of the major no no's is feeding it the crap thunderbolt ammo that i put in mine. So i'm going to get some other 22 ammo and go shoot it again. Hopefully that was the problem.

P22 lube

Also on that site I see that they are talking strongly about only using Teflon lube for the slide rails, as they are not steel, easily damaged by grit that sticks to gun oil/ silicone based lubes.

Upon several recommendations, I broke mine in with hotter ammo. Now it eats anything I feed it. I have found that copper-washed ammo works much better than exposed lead.

I had a few FTF's and several misfires at first, but now my P22 is quite reliable.

Yea the P22 is crap man just crap. You should have gotten a quality High Point. So send it to me you wont have anymore problems J/k

I had similiar problems when my pistol was new and I was not happy with it. Luckily I was at the range where I bought the pistol and had the guy there shoot it and he had similiar problems, The onsite gunsmith broke the gun down and ran a piece of fine sandpaper down the rail's and frame cleaned it lubed it and polished the feed ramp a bit and it has never failed since.

Go shoot it some more and then when you fall in love with it got get it supressed.

I had a similar issue with my Ruger MKII. Failer to fire, feed, eject, etc. Got some good CCI 22 and have never looked back.

Good luck!

I am looking at the Gemtech Outback. The local indoor range has a P22 with that silencer for rent. I talked to the range officer/ gun cleaner guys and they said it's easy to clean and has had at least 5k rounds through it with no problems. It's also really freaking quiet! I figure that it's a decent price and I have seen it tested in the worst possible conditions (range rental gun) and it appears to be a sturdy silencer. Looks like it will run me around $260ish + the transfer tax. I have to get a trust setup first before I can get it ordered.

Back on topic- Allow me to state again. Thunderbolt Ammo = CRAP. It will not feed my old mossberg .22 (a rifle that feeds everything else I have ever crammed in it) my Remington 597 (which is also not very picky,) my wife's Taurus P22 (very picky) or the Walther P22, nor would it feed worth a crap in my friend's Ruger MkIII or Beretta Neos. Crap I tells ya!!

I find Remington Blunderbolts to feed well into a revolver

Blunderbolts, Winchester Wildcats, PMC Zappers = poopy ammo.

I bought a used P22 for my 9-year-old daughter to shoot and it's worked great. The only ammo I've put through it so far has been probably 500+ rounds of Remington Golden Bullets and the Remington ammo (hi-velocity?) that comes in the promotional tins. Not a problem with them.

Like someone else said, you need to make sure you got mags with an 'A' stamped on them. Read this somewhere before I bought mine and asked to check before I purchased it.

P.S. My daughter won't hunt, but she LOVES to go to the gun range and shoot 'her gun' and be the trapper when I shot clays.

Man, rimfirecentral.com is definately the place to go if you have a P22. There is just a ton of info on it. Sounds like all the problems i had with my gun are the same that everybody has. The people over there have figured out a cure for pretty much everything wrong with the P22. Most of them are pretty minor mods that get it working properly. I think I will get some new ammo and see what problems it has for sure, before i decide which mods to do.
