cherrybombs, Garbage. They flow horrible and sound horrible.

Unless you're crawling under the car with it dumped under the car or have a Huge hole in your floorboad, you won't DIE from dumped exhaust. I run cutouts, and when I don't my regular exhaust is dumped under the car. I've sat in traffic for 45 minutes with the AC on, and never once smelled the exhaust..

On a jeep forum I go to someone posted an article about some kids that died in a jeep cherokee because of a shortened exhaust. The exhaust was dumped before the rear wheels and the jeep got stuck. 2 kids died in the jeep while the adults were outside trying to get it unstuck with the jeep idling.

Exhaust is something you do not want to mess around with. Also, dumping exhaust in front of your rear tires can cause tire rot or body rot. The mopar guys are proof of that, just google a bit. Theres nothing to gain by running a shortened exhaust on the streets/trails. Use a cutout if your on the track and want to free up the exhaust as much as possible.

Also, you do not need back pressure. Read up.

Modify for sound by changing the components of the exhaust but make sure the pipe exits from under the vehicle. Fumes are a saftey concern and so it heat. Directing heat on the gastank, or floorboards
If you want a different sound go with a different muffler don't just chop the pipe off and hope for the best. Exhaust cut-outs are a drag racing thing for the street&strip car not designed for offroad abuse.

the non electric or cable operated ones maybe. Most are just flanges with caps.

^^ did they have the windows rolled up?

I ran my ranger with exhaust that came out in front of the rear tire. No Cats so you know when you're smelling exhaust. I ran that truck for two years (before someone hit me making body damages beyond repair) with exhaust like that. No one died, or got a bad headache.

As I stated I have Cutouts on my RMS and dumped exhaust. I've run for days with open cutouts and in various situations, with NO dying. I'm not recommending everyone go out and cut their exhaust of, but use some common sense and you'll be fine.

I've got an e-cutout system on my 3000GT. I push a button on my dash and it's straight headers, push it again, and it's a very tame, barely audible exhaust out the back.

As long as you are legal where you live to ditch the cat and run two pipes straight out the back - run two Cherry Bomb glasspacks. Easy job, too.

What I have now is fine, just would like the changability. Why keep something the same all the time?

I've set my axle on the ground (on 35" tires) and my pipes were bubbling...

edit:
Since electric is expensive (and I'm cheap), and the Mr. Gasket is a 2"er, I'm looking at other options
Product options:
eBay Motors: Summit 670137 Exhaust Cutout 3 in. Diameter Clamp-on (item 370164095584 end time Mar-25-09 02:00:54 PDT)
eBay Motors: QTP 10300 3" Stainless Steel Exhaust Cutout (item 370162351833 end time Mar-21-09 19:00:32 PDT)

those are the two options I'm looking at
