I used to work in the IT dept. of a small corporation doing LAN/workstation support. Basically everything from the switches to the workstations was my responsibility, including the software loaded on the workstation.

Well, I get this new boss and all he does is IM his buddies at his last job and get POed at everyone for work not getting done. One day he tells me "I shouldn't have to follow you around and check up on you." Well, I'm a little POed about this because the jerk is following me around so he can get me the software I need from the locked cabinet I don't have a key to, thats in the locked server room I don't have access to! And then he follows me back after watching me load the software so he can lock it up again! This happened all day long for weeks.

Then he fires me for always showing up an hour late for work. His shift was 8-5. Mine was 9-6. And he's the one that set it! I laughed at him the day I got fired.

I have since found out he got hired into what he thought was a better job but turned out to be a dead end. HAHAHAHAHA

I've been fired twice, but neither time relates to the BS excuse to read me out. The first time I was working as a stock boy at Macy's and bumped a stock cart into a stack of those glass shelves, bye bye. The second time I drove a fork lift off of a loading dock, also bye bye. Both times were when I was a teenager.

A few years ago, well past 50, I was arriving at work and one of the company security people was parked across the ramp up the sidewalk, in a fire lane. I was going in the door as he was leaving, apparantly having picked up his assignment for the day. I commented on the fact that he was parked illegally and he went bonkers "Read the tag." "I'm security I can do what I want." and a couple of other things like that. I left him to his tantrum and went on inside and didn't think too much more of it.

I had, at the time, a Texas non-commissioned security officer license, so I knew that he was wrong, but I figured he was basically an idiot, so I just let it go. A couple of days later he was there again and he saw me coming thru the lobby and made a comment to me that I didn't hear. I walked over to the security desk and told them I wanted to register a complaint about him, illegal parking and harassment, and they told me I would have to contact a supervisor.

I went on to my desk, and got busy before I had a chance to make any calls to the security company. A couple of hours later I got a call from my boss to meet him in the conference room, which was funny because his office was about 30 feet from my cube.

When I arrived my boss was there along with a person from HR. It seems that our hero had filed a complaint, with his company, that I was harassing him because he was handicapped. The HR person told me that they were considering terminating me and filing charges, based on what I never knew, and that they surely would if any more incidents of harassment occurred.

Come to find out that the idiot had handicapped plates on his vehicle and he felt that gave him liberty to park in the fire lane, with a perfectly good handicapped spot about 50 feet away.

When my boss started reading me out I pointed out that he had known me for three years and knew that I was a stable person not prone to the kind of outbursts that I was being accused of. I also pointed out that as a concealed handgun licensee I was not likely to get into confrontations that would cause me to risk losing my license.

When the HR person heard this she almost went into shock, accusing me of carrying on the job, which I never did even though the policy did not comply with Texas law, and revealing her very anti-gun phobia.

I was left with a verbal and written reprimand, which I still contend was for nothing, and the agreement that I would use a different entrance to avoid the psycho.

A couple of months later we had layoffs, guess who was one of the first out the door.

BTW, a few days later I had to go in and drop off some home office stuff, and there was the @$$hole's vehicle again. This time I just called the cops. When the car arrived the officer got out and started writing the ticket and the idiot saw him and came running out, but he got the ticket anyway.

Instead, they just fire the people who actually work and the ones who don't manage to keep their jobs. It would apparently piss off the share-holders.

If the guy was even half a decent "whatever position" he would give YOU all of the commisions from this sale and leave the other guy out to dry. I do Job Cost Estimating full time and we have a part time rep out there too. Sometimes he can't get to a customer promptly so I will handle the account for him and we split the commision 50/50. If I do this and forget to add in his percentage, I give hime ALL of my percentage. Its just professional courtesy. Sounds like you should take your your "ASSet" to someone who will appreciate your talents.
Yeah, I'll not see a dime of the comission. It pissed me off so bad, I sent the competition in there. I'm pretty good friends with the competition, so it works out great.

Hopefully I'll be making a change very, very soon.

Here in Nevada, you can be let go with NO reason given; just, we dont need your services anymore. (called a RIGHT TO WORK state) I know, my wife has used it many times in her business; mostly for incompentence of work. In Kalifornia, she had to "document" each incident, to CYA, as there, the ex-employee can file a court judgement againt you, especially if they aren't allowed Unemployment Insurance. You best "have your ducks in a row" there if you are in business. The company I was with, used the 3 strike system, but like someone else said, they could combind all the strikes into 1, and still get away with it.

Working for others is a pain in the boo-tay! I used to work for friends of the family- They treated me good, but would abuse the friendship by not paying me for weeks at a time.

I worked for my mom and dad- talk about daily verbal abuse. I got in trouble, in front of most of the employees, because some employee I had not talked to, went home and cried, because I did not talk to her on a certain day. Reason I didn't talk to her? I was out working and did not see her. I generally went without pay here from December to march, because I didn't do enough, working 6 days a week. An employee would get a complaint on the quality of their workman ship via phone, I would report it to dear ole dad and mom, and dear ole mom would hurl whatever was at hand to-wards me, coffee cup, keyboard, phone, book. scissors, pens, etc.

My last job had a passive aggressive person who was to be my equal. He handled the commercial division of maintenance and I handled the residential division. he had 3 employees, I grew my division to 10 employees. He got upset that my division was larger, so he went to the co prez and demanded that he have control of my division because he did more work. Prez gave it to him- I got pissed and had yelling match with president that this guys nick name around company was "It's not my job Pat", as he was constantly refusing to do work for the realtor's and their customers. I had my guys do the work, this is how we grew the division to ten guys. I got my job back after the prez verified the nick name with his secretary. There was to be a reprimand for this guy, but the company got shut down by the bank and government for mis-appropriation of funds. oops!

I now work for me. I am the president
My truck, chuck, is the vice president
My wife is CFO
My daughter is Assistant in training and quality control
My dog Hampton is security.

I've been fired several times.

I had just started working for a IT outsourcing company in Redwood City, CA. I'd been there for about a month and found myself outside the HQ talking with another tech. Some woman I'd never seen before came walking up from the parking lot and said something along the lines of, "Hi guys. How's things." The guy I was standing there talking to turned to her and said, "We're plotting to kill you." I stood there dumbfounded and she continued walking into the building. Later that evening we found out this woman was the owners wife. It was suggested by the owner that I write a letter of apology for the incident. I swallowed my pride and did so. 2 days later it was decided that the other tech and I were not a good fit for the company.

Another company I worked for as a sysadmin. My boss and I didn't see eye to eye on a great many things. I thought he was a complete moron and he disagreed. One day he decided there was a dress code that I'd been violating by wearing a hat at work. So he wrote me up. A week later he decided that dress code also barred people (only me) from wearing jackets in the office. I got put on probation. 2 weeks later I was fired without explination.

UD.
