I would love to see a new .45 ACP to replace the M-9 that is cuurently burdening our troops.

Also, since we're already a little off topic, why not add my two cents.

The military is way off base with the whole redesign of the existing weapons. The XM-8 is a POS idea in my opinion. Remeber, newer isn't always better.

The M-16 could use a little tweaking, sure, but it is a good platform. The M-249 SAW is a rock steady piece. So simple I can't believe it wasn't made sooner. The key to both is the same for any firearm. Keep it clean and properly maintained and lubed, and they will work flawlessly. Virtually all issues I have encountered were from poor maintenance and improper training.

What needs to be changed is rather simple and half has already been done by two seperate companies.

Barret has made a M-16 family platform chambered for the Remington SPC 6.8mm round known as the M-468. it provides more knockdown punch per round. This round has been tested in the lab and impromptu by hunting a mule deer with it and the muley dropped like a rock. Try that with a 5.56 NATO round. More info here http://www.barrettrifles.com/military.htm

HK has also developed a new upper reciever that has solved the carbon fouling issue common to the M-16 family. Known as the HK-416 it uses a short stroke gas piston to remove the carbon fouling of the bolt carrier group and create a more dependable weapon. More info here http://www.hkdefense.us/pages/milita...nes/hk416.html

I figure that if you combine the HK-416 with the 6.8 SPC round the US military will have a powerful and reliable weapon on their hands. Rechamber the M-249 SAW for the 6.8 SPC round and we're ready to kick butt. At a minimum cost.

Now seeing the new XD in 45ACP, I bet Springfield will offer it up as an option. It has the type of mag capacity that I would want in battle. 13 rounds is better than 8.

Have you seen it.

OMG I simply denied the possibility of its existance and assumed that everyone else on this board was just delusional. I didn't even care to have an XD in ACP.

But now...well, damnit, I've got to have it.

I have a feeling every forum topic will somehow be turning into an XD45ACP thread... simply because it's so damn amazing. About time, SA.

I think every person on this board is probably nigh giddy with excitement and anticipation. I certainly am, anyway. Watch as I giggle...

Tee hee hee.

I promise to avoid blurting out ACP and hijacking a thread unless it's pertinent.
