While searching for some info on Defensive shotguns, I ran across this website which has some very good info on Home Defense, and breaks it down into handgun, rifle or shotgun. Here is the site:

take it with a grain of salt. the author doesnt even provide his name, nor refrences. who knows where or how he got his information.
