Any one see Fox&Friends this morning? They had an add form Lowe's that had a pine tree/plant on one page with the message to decorate it with ornaments. Then a few pages later, the add explicitly has adds that say something to the affect, "Celebrate with Kwanzaa ornaments" & "Celebrate with Hanukkah ornaments". (I do not recall the exact wording). Seems kind of odd.

I don't mean this as a knock on Christians per se, but I think what's going on here is that they have had such a mainstream stronghold on everything that they are kind of freaking out about losing it. You have to sort of look at it from an objective point of view. As a Christian, would you feel as comfortable going into stores and hearing "Happy Hanukkah" exclusively? I think you might feel a little alienated if nobody ever mentioned Christmas but instead all of the stores talked about Hanukkah. Or what if everyone said "Praise Allah and his prophet Mohammed" or something?

Happy Holidays is just trying to be generic so everyone is included, and as others have already pointed out all of the celebrations of Christmas really have nothing to do with Christianity these days it's just about making money. That right there is what's going on.

At slightly lower prices, no less...

The only reason I go to Lowes is there is one half a mile away, and it's never as busy as Home Depot.

a family celebrating Kwanzaa is going to run to Lowe's to get a tree since it is now a Holiday tree and not a Christmas tree. It is not part of their traditions.
Ahgh: Please Don't say Kwanzaa in the same phrase as the word tradition and with a holiday of real meaning such as Christmas. Kwoo-aan-zaa is a fake invented bu!$h!t holiday invented by a racist, avowed Marxist and convicted felon http://boards.historychannel.com/thr...adID=600020224
that is being forced down our throats as if it has real tradition and meaning to someone. I'm sorry but I have trouble stomaching the rapeing of real meaningful tradition and the replacement with such phony crap.

more info on Christmas than you'd ever need:

Personally, I'm sick to death of this country trying so hard to be PC. Particularly at this time of the year. Christmas has been around forever (can we say "since the birth of Christ"?). The majority of people in this country celebrate it, decorate for it, have adopted some traditions from it, or believe in it, in some way or another. It's a religious holiday. This country was founded by people who believed in God. And they put "God" on our currency, and in the Pledge... If you don't like it, move. Or just don't worry about it. The few PC freaks out there should get over it, not try to sway the majority of the population to unthinking the way of their traditions, religious celebrations, or family gathering fun. Ugh! Die PC scum!!!
[/rant]

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

It's not about PC. This is about corporate America taking a holiday and trying to capitalize on it to make more money. We'll play everybody for suckers and see if we can make some extra bucks on the deal. That's all it is.

While I do agree with you on the commercialization of Christmas, I was coming from the camp of "Happy Holidays" being generic, not religion-specific, so as to not offend anyone (i.e. be PC) and trying to remove the word "Christmas." Same thing with getting "God" out of schools, and anything else that has been "standard" or "tradition" for many moons. The PC agenda should be eliminated.
