USP Compacts

Does anyone have any experience with these? I am going to try and see how well my XD9 service will carry, but I can always use justification for another gun..

How would a Variant 1 9mm or .40S&W Compact compare in size to my XD9? Would it be easier to carry? About the same?

Does anyone have any experience with H&Ks that they would like to share?

Thanks very much.

All I can share is my experience in shooting them. I've put over 500 rounds through a USP40 Compact. The only thing that I really liked about it was the DAO trigger.

I don't care for .40 to begin with, however, in this gun it seems it was even snappier. I came close to buying one, however, I just didn't care for the amount of felt recoil the gun offered. It always shot well and never had a malfunction of any kind.

That being said, I'd love to shoot one in 9mm. I do like the look of the guns and really love the feel of the P2000's, but I hate the price.

The size is about the same. I don't see any advantave of the USP Compact over a XD service for carry.

I have one in 9mm V1 .
I don't care for the trigger.. I prefer the LEM trigger. They are very very nice. One nice thing is the trigger is wide so it spreads the weight over the entire finger pad. It is much nicer than the V1 one trigger. If you have never fired a a USPc or USP then think of the long travel of the Beretta 92's in DA ... then the reset is not very good. The single action is nice. Mine sits in my gun safe.

Thankyou both for the feedback. I looked up the dimensions, and the XD Service and USPC are pretty similar, and the XD looks to be a much better carry gun (it is nearly .7lbs lighter, and only has a slightly longer barrel). I couldnt find the USPC's width dimensions, but I think I remember it being wider than the XD for some reason.

I guess I was just trying to talk myself into another gun..but in order to justify another gun purchase on a college budget, it needs to be a good justification.

I was thinking about 3" 1911 (either Colt, Kimber, or SA), but then realized that there are so many modifications out there for customization that I would probably get myself in a big hole very fast!! I do like the single-stack width it offers for concealment..damn I need to get off these forums and Gun Broker.

I definitely dont want to get the USPC if I wont be carrying it, and if I am just going to leave it in our safe. (I liked it especially because the V1 can be carried "cocked and locked"..)

Thanks again.

The USPc is slimmer than the XD by 0.06", 0.19" shorter (unless you get a .45 which is 0.09" longer), and 0.45" taller (.45 is 0.51" taller).

Thanks very much for the dimensions...

Any more reviews/comments are more than welcome, though it looks like my search for other justified purchases continues...

I did see it after posting and thought it was a good read. I dont have terribly large hands, so I dont think I would be fighting with the controls as that one guy said he was....

I am reading on AR15.com right now in their H&K forum and looking at the picture thread.
