Though not a compact I've also put a few hundred rounds though two USP 45's in full size. Both shot well and felt recoil wasn't bad at all. One of them had some feeding problems which I figure is just old mag springs.
I would really urge you to check out the new P2000. I don't know if they come in .45 yet or not, but man, they feel great. They'll also leave your wallet A LOT thinner.

Its deals like this that make me tempted: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=88&t=313240 My first passion is cars and modifications and new purchases are so expensive that cost typically overrules the impulsiveness of a purchase, whereas with handguns the buy-in is so much cheaper that its hard not to give in to impulsiveness. For now, I am going to hold off, and just hope that a deal like that pops up again/is still available when I am ready to buy again... |

Yep, I'm in the process of finishing up the exhaust on my GTO with cam and spray to follow. Stupid cars.

I just bought a USP 40C LEM. I am going to be issued a P2000 shortly and wanted to get used to the pistol and, in particular, the magazine release (which, in retrospect, is really no big deal at all). Bought the pistol last night as a matter of fact.
The first thing I noticed is that it goes out of battery when pressed against a hard surface. I'm not sure if there are extended guide rods available (and the service will not let me carry one if there are...) but I don't like any pistol that functions in this way. I shot another agent's USP a few months ago and loved it. I was grouping as though I'd owned and fired the gun for years. It is terribly accurate. Very comfortable for me to shoot, also.
