Question XDs shipment times?

I ordered and paid in full for an XDs from a local gun shop in Austin, TX on August 13th. So as of today it has been 25 days since ordering, and it still has not come in from Springfield. Is this normal/average? How long have your local shops been taking to get orders in?

Just for reference, this is a big shop (probably the biggest/most popular shop in Austin) so I know they move a lot of guns, and they told me they have the XDs on constant order from Springfield. I've called once a week since ordering and every time I call they just tell me they haven't gotten the shipment in yet, they have no clue when it will come, and they will call me when it gets in. I starting to get a little annoyed and beginning to feel like I'm getting the run around. Am I being unreasonable?

I bought mine online and grabagun. They seems to get several of the XDS in every week or two! I missed out on one by a few minutes and then logged on to be notified when they are back in stock... one week later I got the email and called immediately and purchased the XDS for $535ish with free shipping. I have found at the lgs you never know how many people are really in front of you when you do an advance purchase!!
Good luck!!

I would never pay in full in advance. A deposit, yes.

Once they have your money they have no reason to hurry to get you a gun, they can sell your gun to some one else!

Most of the gun shops here that I deal with only take deposits and don't require full payment. One shop has a waiting list for both the Shield and the XDS and they require a $100 refundable deposit. I had a deposit down at one store and another store got one in that won't take any deposit and got lucky being there at the right time. The other gun store refunded my deposit with no added charge and no questions. No regrets getting the XDS either.

I walked into my LGS on Thurs to ask if he had the XDs and he said yes but it was being held for another customer to pickup on Sat, I showed him the cash and walked out with it, money talks, and being there at the right time doesn't hurt either..

While,I'm glad you got a XDS I think it was wrong of the LGS to do that to the other customer. Wonder if the other customer paid for it already. Even if the guy had not paid for it and then didn't pick it up the LGS could sell it probably the same day. When I picked mine up the guy at the counter made a comment to the other guy behind the counter, he said well this one only lasted 15 minutes after putting it out. They only sell first come.

Doesn't sound like the kind of dealer I would want to do business with in the future. Apparently A bird in the hand..........
