Just because someone sells something doesn't make it safe. Tobacco is a good example. Carrying in pistol without a manual safety in you pocket or inside the waistband without covering the trigger is an accident waiting to happen.

Isn't the purpose of a "pocket holster" to cover/ protect the trigger. With no trigger coverage, what is the point of a pocket holster? To cover the barrell? Printing? Seems pointless.

There are many many many ways to carry that expose the trigger. Where do you draw the line? Carry a gun is dangerous? Carrying a loaded gun is dangerous? Carrying a gun with an exposed trigger is dangerous? Finally, I'll stack my experience against yours any time you'd like. Wow. Did I hit a nerve, or what?
And yes, my opinion is definitely that if you use a holster that exposes the trigger of your pistol, you are using an inherently unsafe holster. Even if your pistol has a manual safety.

The "glossy" holster with the detachable flap is called the "Super Fly". I'm interested, but Desantis is having some issues with their website (today they say it works, but I can't get in. Yesterday they told me they have had problems since the hurricane a week+ ago.
Anyway.....
Can someone give me some quick dimensions please?
Height
Width
Thickness with the flap AND with an XDS inserted into the holster.
Thanks!

First.... their website has been broken for days. When I have called some people say it is broken; others said it is not broken.
For now I have given up trying their website, and am using this to test each day
http://www.websitedown*******desantisholster.com
Edit: for some reason this website put asterisks in for part of the link. What they replace is: *******
Edit again.... This website won't let me put in that part of the URL. Google it, and you should be able to find it.
It is much less bother than trying Desantisholster.com and waiting for a while just to get nothing.
Here is some info that Desantis e-mailed me a day or two ago regarding their M44 pocket holster when I asked for dimensions:
" Dear Sir,
The M44 for S/A XDS .45 the dimensions on this is
With flap - H= 6 ½ inch W=5 inch
Without flap (n38 H= 5 ½ inch W= 5 inch
As to the thickness we aren't allowed to give that information out. I hope this helps you."
Why they can't mention the material thickness strange. Maybe it is a national secret.
I will try to attach a photo they sent me WITH an XDS..... Edit: I tried attaching a photo, but it didn't show up.... sorry.
I am thinking of making my own pocket holster. This appears rather thick. Thick, in my mind, defeats the purpose of a thin 1" wide single stack gun. Adding a 1/4" or more of material doesn't thrill me.
And now my umpteenth edit of this post: I'm trying to give someone some information, but I can't attach or insert a 469K bmp. Why? Am I doing something wrong, or haven't been a member long enough to post a photo?

I'm not sure of the part number yet. According to one rep I talked to last week nothing matters after M44. I don't know if that is true.
Last week some of the reps sounded pissed off to talk to me. One rep explained they have had problems with their website after storm Sandy (others say that is not correct). Either way, maybe they generally have poor customer support reps, or the post storm stuff it getting to them.
Sorry I can't help you more.
If you want the photo Desantis sent me with an XDS in the holster send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send it to you via e-mail (either tonight or tomorrow.... I'm not sure how much longer I'll be online tonight with this computer that has the photo).
