+1 ... I usually shoot some electrical contact cleaner in there...leaves no residue, cleans great and dries thoroughly...I used to use non chlorinated brake cleaner but it's not as kind to all finishes...

I use no lube in the striker channel and only clean the channel every 2k or so rounds when I detail strip.

if you lube it you will need to clean it more often because crud sticks to lube. There is very little movement in there, definitely not at any speed, so does not need lube. I have cleaned my XD channel rarely, and have same plan for XD-s

I have not read anywhere that has a recommended X amount of rounds, but clean mine every 500-1000 rounds.

2000 rounds or 6 months, whichever comes first. No lube.

I put a light coat of TW25B grease on the firing pin assembly.
I do not lube the plastic parts.
Never had any problems; at 1000 rounds this weekend.
I do not agree with the "wet look" some of the folks are following.
Just a dab will do ya on the on the rails.
