7 rnd magazines

OK, so I ordered 2ea extended magazines at about $39 ea. Went out to shoot 230 gn FMJ RN ammo. The gun continually jammed. I switched to the 5 rnd mags and it fired every round....No problems. I tried the other 7 rnd mag with the same results, jamming about every 1 or 2 rnds. There was one cycle where it did not pick up a bullet at all, (empty chamber). Went back to the 5 rnd mags again and No problem.
This gun has about 400 rnds or so down range, so it should be broken in by now.
I called SA and the gun is on the way back to Springfield Armory.

Will update when I get additional info.

They asked for your gun when the 7 round mags caused feeding issues? Did they say why?

You're going to send your XDS back to Springfield? Why would you do that? Do a forum search on 7 round mags ... we just had a long exchange about this a week ago and I posted a video. Its the mag, not your XDS .. there would be no need to return it to SA

I also called SA about a mag problem, they too wanted my gun along with the mag. That is telling me that there isn't anything wrong with the mags, the problem is with the pistol. If all pistols are the same, they could simply use a production gun to test the mags. They wouldn't need the customers gun if there wasn't a problem.

They didn't say why, but this gun has had a problem before with high primer strikes and I mentioned it to the tech. Also, he seemed very concerned that the one cycle failed to pick up a round.

If the gun functions100% with the5 rd mags then does not function with the 7rd mags seems to me that it's obviously the mags and not the weapon.

5 round mags have not had any issues ... 7 round mags have had issues. That tells me there is a possible problem the 7 round mag and the follower. If it were the pistol there would be problems with the 5 round mag too. IMO

I saw your video. Not exactly the same problem I have. Also, your video does not offer a solution. My 7 rnd mags went back as well.

I'm not sure if there is follow up remarks on the video thread but after I posted the video I ran 100 rounds down range and had 3 failures with the 7 round mag. If you listen when the mag is inserted you can hear a double click ... I believe its the follower. A second range trip (using both 7 and 5 round mags) with 200 rounds down range and not a single failure. I am holding off judgement for a thrid range trip .... perhaps the 7 round mag follower is broken in now?!?! We'll see.

As far as your high strikes ... thats a different subject, I have not had that problem but it seems that a lot of people have. I know there is a serial number thread .. perhaps check to see where your serial number falls in line with the guys who have had high strikes. Either way, sorry that you're having issues, this really is a great carry gun.
