I put 400rds before I started CC'ing...450 so far w/o issue!
Clean, lube, & make sure you grip her right, she should be good to go. Grip is very important w/this pistol & will cause issues if not done properly.

Thanks. I here some people start with 100 and some people say dont need a break in period. Also is it a good recommendation to clean the factory oil and lubricants out and replace with your own before firing?

I have ALWAYS done this with new Semi-Auto pistols. This is what I did with my XDs. It has performed flawlessly since I bought it. One other thing that I do is that I use Shooter's Choice grease on the slide grooves. I put a generous amount on the grooves and reassemble the gun. I then rack the slide pretty aggressively several time. Then disassemble and wipe off the excess grease. Been doing this for years!

I ran 35 through mine, 25 fmj and 10 jhp's.

For me it's not round count, it's that it can reliably feed, fire and eject at least a couple magazines consistently, and with a gun by Springfield Armory that is known for reliable firearms I'm not concerned about carrying it after only 35 rounds.

To me a carry gun doesn't need to fire 200+ rounds per range session flawlessly to be trusted, my carry guns are always kept clean, I even clean them when I haven't shot them just to ensure function (lint, whatever might get in there).

I like to run 400-500 thru it just to make sure no issues and
I get a good feel for the weapon.. and I LIKE TO SHOOT!

Use a good grease on the rails and on the bbl after you clean
it keep the striker channel dry and oil free.

hang on and enjoy!

I agree with what others have posted. Prior to shooting, field strip and clean the pistol. Lube the rails and the barrel. Based on what I have read here, I am not shy on the lube for this gun. I also suggest disassembling and cleaning the mags.

I will say my XDs was the cleanest new gun I have ever bought and probably would have worked out of the box.

I started carrying mine after the first range trip, ~150 rounds. I was pretty confident that it was a reliable pistol. I put another ~150 through it today and it ran like a champ.

Any gun I'm going to CC, I shoot at least 200-300rds. before I trust it.
