Went back to
Sportsman's Outlet with
250 rounds of Freedom Munitions 230 gr. RN New ammunition.
The XDS ran great for the first 40 or 50 rounds and then I got the same failure to eject error
that I was getting with the Tula.
I continued on and got another one a few rounds later.
If it's not the Tula then what is it? I field stripped it and the inside of the slide was slick with molten froglube. Lack of lubrication is not the problem. It was hard to see the ejector in the dimly lit shooting booth so I scrubbed it a little bit with a microfiber cloth and put the gun back together. No more problems for the remainder of the range session.
The best 10 round string. (2 mags, 5 rounds each, 7 yards)
Last 50 rounds of the session were 5 round BSA drills. I was surprised how fast I was able to fire it maintaining control. The groups opened up some but no flyers.
Today's practice puts me right at 1000 rounds.
Here is the performance review:
100 rounds Fiocchi fmj - zero issues
300 rounds Tula - zero issues - Inspected random shell casings, all primer strikes were centered
150 Rounds Tula - 11 Failures to eject!? -
Range report with photos
100 rounds Tula - 12 Failures to eject paying careful attention to my grip. My XDS does not like Tula
100 rounds Freedom Munitions - zero issues
250 rounds Freedom Munitions - 2 Failures to Eject (due to fouled ejector, cleaned it and it ran well)
Totals: 1000 rounds - 25 FTE
