Hey, does anyone know if the two terms were ever interchangeable? I hear so many old, old timers refer to magazines as clips at the club. I don't like to correct my elders. Just wondering if any old timers might know... just curious.

Think it might be because so many old timers may have been using guns wich actually used clips. Maybe i'm way off too though haha

After further review, the image you added and not being attached resides on a facebook server and my browser doesn't allow it.
There's nothing on facebook that I can't live without........

It took me by surprise on your original post when there was no picture, so I thought. As soon as someone else posted a comment on the pic I knew it was me.
I'm not being critical of you, I'm just not a facebook fan. Somewhere along the way I'm sure I blocked their servers.

I don't go way back, but in the early 70's at the gun shop where I hung out the term clip was used for what we know as magazines more often than magazine. There weren't nearly as many semi autos at that time - some 1911s and .22s. But the "pistol smith" mostly worked on revolvers. A clip was where you put the bullets, and a magazine was where you read about the new guns with clips.
