ODDs???
So I cant get my wife what she really wanted for mothersday.... A XDS... (thanks Springfield).. Anyways some of the emails circulateing from Springfield said they would be shipping them around the 15th. What are the odds Springfield actually shipping this week? Anyone think its actually possible?

Not sure if it will actually happen, but you may want to take a look at the S&W Shield. It is getting some great reviews and it is available now. (If they aren't sold out).

The delay scared me. I was on the S bandwagon.
I'm scared there is/was an inherent weakness in the XDs design and I'm just not willing to be Springfields beta tester.
After reading and seeing reviews and shooting a Shield, I jumped ship.
I'm still a Springfield fan ... I own 3 XDms and a 1911.

The shield is cool but I dont need another compact 9mm right now. My wife and I both carry EMPs. I was about to jump on a G36 until Shot Show this year. At some point I will buy a shield for my wife's ladies shooting club. I want to have carry options for the ladies to try out so they know what they want to buy. I live in Houston. In a town this size shields can be had with some searching.

So I reported last month that I had talked with a sales manager at Springfield and was told the XDS would be available by mid May. Well I decided to check in with her on Friday just to get an update. What I was told really set me off. She said they are hoping to have the XDS available by the END of May. This discussion was via email and I told her how angry I was and she asked me to call her next week after she returns from a business trip which I will do. I told her I was fed up and was at the point of purchasing the new m&p shield 40 because it was an example of a company actually fulfilling there release as advertised and not jerking perspective customers around. The problem with it is I called all over Oregon and could only find ONE shield 40 that has even been distributed to Oregon and it was sold within minutes so the saga continues and now I wonder if the XDS will even make it out before June.

Well guess that answers the original question. Somebody at Springfield really screwed this one up. It's a bummer since Springfields customer service is so awesome and they normally deliver when and what they say. Oh well it was bound to happen at some point.

The XDm-45 was like nine months late as I recall.

They never announced a release date for the xdm-45. It was always "in the works". Xds was promised out in March at the Shot Show.
