XDs match grade barrel

Hey guys and gals first post here. I've currently purchased a .40 XDM4.5 from my brother and love the gun. The match grade barrel and trigger are very nice. The problem I'm having is this gun is just a little large for ccw although I have carried it when the weather permits (cold). I was considering picking up the .45 XDM3.8, well you can imagine my excitement when I saw the XDs even with it's limited capacity it looked the answer to my problem. My question is as follows from what I've read it will have the melonite treatment but does anyone know if it will have the upgraded features that the XDM products have? From what I understand in the beginning the original XD products weren't made to the same quality that the XDM's are know for. Now that could be total crap I'm not sure. I guess where I'm going with this is does anyone know if the XDS will have a match grade barrel and trigger that I have come to know and love in my XDM? Thanks to all who reply

A match grade barrel is used in bulls eye or other competition, there's no need for an SD gun, which the S is, to have a match barrel. Oh and you were right the "higher quality" crap is just that crap. Match is pretty much crap since there's no standard for it so anybody can call a barrel match.

It's polygonal vs standard rifling, and is not 'crap' however it's more noticeable in longer barrels and increases velocity.

Which will the XDs have the polygonal or standard rifling?

Wait, you're saying the XDm has poly rifling?

What does velocity have to do with accuracy?

Isn't polygonal the way the metal is made or formed?

I guess let me sum it up this way. Other than size and capacity what are the differences in the XDm3.8 .45 vs the XDs .45? Doesn't the XDm 3.8 have the match grade equip?

Here's a good read on it:
Polygonal rifling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

XDm is polygonal.

It's the rifling type and XDms don't have poly rifling.

When a "match fitted" barrel by a company that specializes in barrels such as Shilen, Barsto, etc... are made the have tighter tolerances in chamber and bore. They are also oversized have have to be manually cut and fitted to your gun. XDm match barrels are not, as far as I know, hand fitted so one barrel will fit multiple XDms this is not true with a fitted match barrel. A fitted barrel will fit the gun it was fitted to. Again since there is no standard for the word match, any company can slap the word match on a barrel. What does that mean? X companies match barrel tolerances can be Y companies plain old barrel tolerances.

XDm is polygonal.
Unless they've changed them recently, they do not.

I know my ex-XDm40 had conventional rifling.
