(Whenever) XDs 9/40 What capacity?

Wondering what the mag capacity will be whenever the XDs is released in 9mm and 40. Wouldn't surprise me if someone here has done the measurements and can post a good guess...

9mm = 9 or 10?

.40 = 8?

Just saw this in another thread and it may answer the question.

6, not as many as I thought.

.40 will be 5, 9mm will be 6, if they are a true single stack and keep the same dimensions, as seen in the picture that I took above, there isn't that much of a difference in linear displacement between the calibers

the walther pps is listed at the same height as the xds with the flush mag, and their capacity is 5 rounds of .40 and 6 rounds of 9mm

I'd be very very very surprised is the capacity is anything higher than 6 for the 9mm without changing anything

If we expect that they'll use the same basic frame for the 9mm, then - and this is probably wishful thinking - they could keep the magazine the same width as the .45, and slighty stagger the rounds so that you'd get 7 in the same space as 5 .45s...

even if they do that, it would still be pushing it to get another round in there

That's my thought ... and hope.

i know i'm jut eyeballing it, but i tried staggering 9mm in the same space as 5 .45, still only 6. I think you guys think a 9mm is a lot smaller compared to a .45 than it really is, yes the volume is greatly different, but the diameter is very close, which is what matters in single stack or very slightly staggered mags. you're talking a 1/16th of an inch difference in diameter, which barely allows for a stagger, and doesn't allow for an increase in rounds

we can all wish, but the reality is, it will be 6 rounds without making the handle thicker or longer

Confirmed... Just tried it in Photoshop. Staggering 9mm rounds in the same width as .45 gives just a hair more room than leaving them single-stack. Nowhere near enough room for 7th round.

Maybe with an extended floor plate...

Is the XD-s for sure releasing a 9mm or .40 variant? I haven't seen anything official, just speculation.
