hello again, XD-Generate. i remember in my wild dreaming (thread and posts) that you pretty much concurred with me on that baby xd .380 i cried about. yeah, no power, but it would be pocketable
for you other xdtalkers, i have begged those who might have an in with the honchos at SA to ponder the possibility of a US plant making the baby .380.
my dilemma is i'm very attracted to the Sig P238 for summer carry in cold WI. but the 'muscle memory' of that gun is very different from my xd40. no USA trigger and grip safety. i would never have a problem being cocked and locked with any xd. but that Sig, though it's a beautiful shooter, has a safety, that, in the heat of the threat, could be forgotten. though i'd probably be cocked and locked with the p238, i'd still be a little afraid of a machine failure.
i want all my pistolas to shoot the same way. thus i have decided that i will wait til i get my hands on the XDS when it comes in 40 and 9mm. i don't want to confuse my retired brain to think about an SAO trigger with only a manual safety to prevent me blowing my .... off. i want my conceal and carry for summer to have the USA trigger and grip safety. i would not fear for my reproductive capabilities, cuz, as a machine, one could fail, but not 'likely' both at the same time. if both trigger and grip safety failed together, i guess it's time the Lord would call me.
so, hoping that the single stack 9mm or 40 might add one extra bullet in the mag, looks like XDS for me.

I don't really like the sound of the XDS, sure it's small and concealable and a 45, but only 6 shots? Maybe as a backup if it shoots well, but still.

It wouldn't replace my carry weapon, but it would be fun to take to the range and possibly keep as one of many options scattered about my home for defense. Every room has a secret surprise for any intruder.

A sear in the XD is the thing that holds the striker in cocked position and when you pull the trigger it slides the sear out of the way, on a Glock or the XDs when you cycle the slide you are only cocking the striker around 30% then as you pull the trigger the trigger bar has a peace that pulls the striker the rest of the way and then moves out of the way. I may not be 100% correct on how I described it but I think I'm pretty much there.
