XDs .45ACP 3.3 weight: 21.5oz confirmed

I traded emails with a Springfield Armory rep today. Initially I wanted to confirm estimated availability and MSRP.

Here's a direct quote from the rep:

Those we hope to be shipping in March.

XD(S) suggested Retail pricing and part numbers: .45ACP only at this time.

Black: $599 XDS93345B

Bitone: $669 XDS93345S

Then, I asked about empty weight with magazine, given all the conjecture online about the 29oz figure being way too high.

Here's another direct quote from the rep:

21.5 oz with empty mag.

I weighed 6 rounds of my current JHP defense round to be 4.5oz. Add this to the mix, and a fully loaded XDs 3.3 will carry at 26oz (a little more for FMJ).

This shaves nearly a pound off the carry weight of my XDm .45 4.5", when it is fully loaded. With the weight of the XDm .45 4.5", I often end up carrying my Ruger LCP instead. The latter can now become a backup gun.

Yeah, I didn't believe the part about import points being aided by extra weight. Glock 36 is imported isn't it?

Wonder what street price will be initially? I'd bet sellers will get the MSRP given it is likely to be quite popular. I'm about to call my local shop to inquire about availability.
