I hope an XDM .45 ACP DOES appear soon and I hope its mag capacity is at least 14+1.
Why would you think it is not geared towards law enforcement? If anything I would say it is a huge step in the direction of getting more LEO business. Funny when I was at Springfield a Sheriff walked in and he was carrying a XD.

I am going to go out on a limb here and predict that the California XD-M 45 model will have a 10rd magazine capacity.

P.S. I have a pair of 14+1 45 ACP Paras (one is 18 years old) with match triggers, tuned to prefection. I can't imagine an XD-M 45 would shoot any better than them.

They added 3 to everything else, so it could be 16+1. But the 45 already has a long frame. So, I don't know that it will increase at all, if it comes.

13+1 would be nice wouldn't it? So the same mags would fit. For more capacity they could just offer a longer extended mag that would fit the current XD as well as the M model.
As for whether Springfield has any say in new design that might depend on how much market share they have. If most XDs were sold here it would matter much...if not, not much. Money talks, bull**** walks.
Does anyone know how much market share the U.S. accounts for?

From talking to a LE friend in California, he said Springfield XD(M)s were not currently available in his state, seems they have to pass some Calif. mandated testing before being put on an approved list. Springfield may not bother. As a LE he received an LE 'exemption' from his department and was able to order one to use on duty.

14+1 is my guess.

I Emailed Springfield about an XD 10mm, and the response was not very hopeful.

What about a 357 sig XDM?

I already have the 40 and 9 XDM, and the 45 XD, and a Glock 10mm compensated (only because there was no 10mm XD)

On another note, the XDM will fade out the XD with enough sales, so I assume they will all become XDMs at some point

XDM 45 News

The news is there is no news. Below is the email from Tom at SA:

Hi Mike – I wish I did have an answer.
Still no plans to release an XDM in .45ACP.

Thanks, Tom

Tom Macke

So that kind of screws a few things up for me. I'm looking for a good CCW .45 from SA. I haven't shot the XD but played with them a lot at local shops. Is the XDM THAT much better to warrant waiting indefinately for a XDM 45 which may not come for a lot longer? Keep in mind I'm just a little guy so the different grip sizes are nice. That was the major selling point for me with the XDM...despite not being able to get that damn medium size grip off!

Well, did you expect him to say... sure it's coming out in a couple of months. This marketing at it's best. You don't tell the public until they are ready for the public to know. That way, most of us will go ahead and buy an XDM or XD. Then when it comes out, you will be very tempted to buy the XDM45 also. Then GOTCHA! You just bought both!

No, the XD45 Compact is an excellent carry gun and far more easy to conceal than the XD(M) which has a much longer grip. Remember the XD(M) is more of a competition gun which boasts higher capacity and match grade barrels. I have relatively small hands and the XD45 Compact grip has been perfect for me.
