The guide rod adds weight under the muzzle and helps shot recovery. I really notice it on this gun vs all metal guns.
I love the new sight setup. I did this today at 25 yards standing with blazer 180 grain.

I looks great and adds weight. Get Don's guide rod from pistolgear. It's pretty cheap.
