I have the BiTone 45 competition and a solid black 9mm competition both with PRP UMT trigger kit. I got the 45 in trade for a gen4 G21 I got on the LEO program and paid $550 for the 9mm yesterday.

I was hoping for the bi-tone, but after MONTHS of waiting, I was in no mood to let one slip through my fingers. I'm heading to the range for a quick and dirty date with the 5.25 as soon as I get off of work this morning. I don't know if it'll be an advantage or disadvantage, but up to this point I've never fired a striker weapon. I understand that the trigger pull is going to be different, and during the few obligatory dry-fires this was readily apparent. So, a trigger job in the future may be in order, but we'll see. That being said I'm very excited. This is my first big-boy pistol, (have a Ruger MK. I handmedown from my dad) and it's like Christmas morning over here.

Well karma appears to have reared her ugly head, I had teased a few of the guys coming in to work that I was on my way to the range. Don't worry, nothing too serious happened, but I leave work around 9:30a and I find the entrance road blocked by a large dump truck. Apparently they're redoing the gravel on the 3 mi road. Range is closed a few days.

Report is postponed a bit.

Managed to take it out today. I LOVE this pistol. It feels perfect in my hands and it's the softest shooting .45 I've had the pleasure of firing.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a mediocre pistol shooter at best. However, there must be some kind of dark magic in the 5.25", first three shots, out of the box with cheapo ammo. Right in the black.

1 FTF, (reracked and fired without issue)
Zero FTE.
Springs must need some breaking in, out of the 12 mags I ran through, 3 actually locked open on an empty mag.

First 3, out of the box. 25 strides away.
Finally! Picked up my 5.25 (.45)-imageuploadedbytapatalk1342565071.553034.jpg

I know some of the 5.25 had an issue with the under sized recoil spring. I had this issue with my 5.25 9mm not going into full battery when mag loaded and slide racked. I called SA and had my new/updated recoil spring within 3 days with no charge or hassle... SA has great customer service!! The updated recoil spring is about 3/8" to 1/2" longer.
I love my 5.25... It is more accurate than me and a great shooter!

Congrats on the new 5.25 .45 . I have all of them. The 9mm, .40s&w, and .45acp. They are awesome to say the least. I shoot USPSA , IPSC and have shot the 9 and am going to try the .40 at the next match on the 4th of August. I tried practicing with the ,45, but it is kinda hard to control in fast mode. But, it is an awesome target pistol. Really accurate. I have had no issues at all with any of these pistols. They feed and eject with no problems. I ordered extra mags from Springfield when they had the sale going on. Good luck with yours. WG

Upon further examination with some living room dry-fires, I may be accidentally riding the slide release. I won't be able to tell for sure until I get some more range time, and I'm hoping this is all there is to it. I'm brand new to the thumbs-forward grip, so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm slightly off. That being said, the grip feels remarkably natural, so I'm hoping I don't have to alter it too much.
