Critical week for my xdm
toThis is going to be a critical week for my xdm. I will be honest. I consistently shoot left with it. My other pistols I am comfortabley in the center of center mass, but the xdm is left.
I have tried different things; adjusting my handgrip, making sure I am not squeezing with all my fingers etc, but I still am hitting left.
I am concerned because this is my carry piece. So I am going to take it to the range this week. If I am not able to find the solution to the problem, then I am considering selling it, or trading it in on either a Glock, or a Smith M&P.
I think I am going to go to shooters (indoor range in Traverse City) and rent a couple of guns to try and see how they shoot.
I really like the xdm, how it feels in my hand, the safety features, and the ease of field stripping, but if I cannot get my shots on target, then I have to get a platform that will.

Have you tried all the back straps?Try another (autocorrect made that "anorexic"?) XDm. Do you also shoot that one left? If yes, maybe the ergonomics don't work for you. If no, maybe your sights are off.
Good luck!

That's funny because I'm more accurate with my XDM40 then any of my handguns

Have you fired the gun from a rest using sandbags? If it still shoots left the rear sight can be moved to bring the point of impact to point of aim.

it might just take you some time to get used to it. After getting used to drilling holes with my XDm 5.25 I picked up my two year old Walther PPS and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn! I kept bring the target closer and closer wondering where they heck I was hitting. Actually took my weapon apart afraid that it was stacking jammed bullets in the barrel. So now it would seem I have to relearn how to shoot my PPS as I have never sucked as much at shooting it now that I'm used to how awesome the XDm is

Try a talon grip, maybe hogue if they make them.
I went the cheap route made my own and slipped it on over the larger backstrap. fits nice, recoil is less, and I am not shooting left... I used to be, slowed down my shooting, and got it down.

Russ, for gods sake just drift the rear sight slightly to the right. No need to get rid of it or spend a bunch of money...
I know for a fact that my factory sights are off kilter. They just need nudged over. I am willing to bet money that if you drift the sight slightly then problem solved.

yeah I have wondered that myself looking at where my XDm sights are placed on the gun...I've studied them a few times wondering if they were "perfectly" aligned with the barrel. But alas I can adjust the rear sight problem solved.

I have studied mine a great length and shooting and found that my shooting left is due to the sights not being on straight from the factory. Easy fix with the right tools.
I just aint got the tools yet

Now, this I will try. I really like the gun, and I have put around 500 rounds through it, so I will attempt this and see if it is the sights.
