Hello everybody, im new to this site and forums alike. I was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on the XDM 3.8 40 s&w? I just bought one not to long ago, I have not fired it yet but the guy at the store told me i made a bad choice on a gun, and that the xdm is a cheap version of a glock... I hate glocks though so thats why i went with the springfeld, not only dose the gun look cool but i think it will be an amazing firearm to have for carry, but thats why i just want to hear some other thoughts on it, so if you can please help i dont want to own a gun that is not a good.. Thanks

As far as the guy at the gun store and his commnent about your making a bad choice; everyone has a right to an opinion, even idiots.
The xdm is a great gun, and in my opinion superior to the glock is safety.
I really like the bacstrap safety on the xdm. It reduces the chances of an accidental discharge if the trigger gets snagged on something.
I have an xdm compact 3.8 in the .40. I have around 300 rounds through it without a single mishap.
As far as being a cheaper version of the glock; I think the xdm is more expensive, and I think the quality workmanship is equal to or exceeds the glock.
The glock is a great gun, but so is the xdm.

The only important question is do *YOU* like the gun. If you do, great. Keep it. If *YOU* don't like it, get something else. A gun is like a car. If it meets your needs and wants, and is in your budget, it's a good car. If you are getting a car or gun to make someone else happy, you will be miserable because there will always be someone else who does not like your gun or car. Welcome to the forum.

Well said. There are many purists who look down on other brands. Glocks are great guns but don't feel right in my hand. If they did I'd probably have one. But SA's fit great and are quality firearms. Don't let his opinion sway you. You have a great gun that will give you many years of enjoyment.

You made a great choice in your XDM, I prefer them over glocks. They feel better in my hands than glocks do. Also I have owned Springfield XD, or XDM for about five years and never had any malfunctions. The LGS employee was just trying to assert his personal biast on you. You will be happy you went with your gut.

I recently owned a Glock 19 Gen 4 and after multiple issues and a trip back to Glock I sold it and bought my Xdm 9mm Compact and couldn't be happier. I love the way it feels, the workmanship, and firing the little beauty and never see myself going back. 
Let us know your thoughts after a trip to the range, I bet you feel confident you made a great choice.

XD and XDm are fine guns as are glocks.

Glock are for people XDM's are for individuals... Like what you like, what someone else eats doesn't make you crap.... Glocks are great but so are XDMs. I have shoot both and I love my XDM 3.8 45 acp. Would not trade for a glock. Guns are like fishing everyone has a story about what works and how to catch the big one.
