I polished my XDM 9mm barrel and guide rod TOOK FOREVER. Hell if you would have been around back then $50.00 would have been more than fair. I like the brushed look that you did on your friends XD. I might send you my XDM 3.8" and let you do that to the barrel, the guide rod, and slide.

It's stainless on mine, which is fine to polish, steel can be polished, but is more suseptible to rust obviously. There are some things you can do to curb the surface rust as well.

yeah, he liked that look a lot... it's almost like a shadow black I like to call it. The barrel was fully polished though, which gives it a pretty cool look from the top. I don't polish the top or backs though... any possibility for glare is a bad thing, unless the person wants it done.

I'm usually not a fan of polished guns, but that looks outstanding. I'm also interested in the shadow look. . Would you be able to do that on a Glock?

I cannot tell you for sure on a glock simply because I have no experience with how the slide is. Most steel has a machined look (pitted sort of), I polish it so that black stays in those areas, but the steel above is silver.
