Is that a 5.25 or 4.5?
Never seen it before but I'd send it to SA for sure

That doesnt look good.
Do you have an aftermarket guide rod or barrel in it or is it stock?

It is a stock 4.5in .40SW. It is not mine and the new owner is a little upset by it.

A little would be putting it mildly if I just bought it and that happened. BUT I do know SA has great service, so in the end it will be fixed. So my mind would be at ease, just wouldnt be firing the weapon, which kinda defeats the point. Just crappy luck to have a break at that particular spot in a new weapon.

Crack in dust cover
Try liquid metal. You can find it at any hardware store. Works Great!

Personally I would never try to fix anything like this. This is a warranty issue and may be a possible defective gun. SA is taking care of the kid that owns the gun.
