My mags were tight in the beginning, I just loaded them up, unloaded them, let them set loaded and also put one in the gun without racking, ran about 500 rounds through the gun . . they loosened up just fine. I would rather have a tight mag over a loose one.

I recently bought several spare 9 round mags from SA, took a caliper to them, all measure the same. So they have not changed their manufacturing specs. The 13 round mags are about as tight, may be slightly different, but not enough to really notice a difference. ALL my mags drop out of the gun easily when I release them, so the issue is not in the construct of the gun itself.

Many years ago I had similar issues with my Colt 1911 Goverment, did the same things, was just fine after all that stuff.

did you mic the distances ...other than overall length .... between the 9 rnd and the 13 rnd mags. mag catch groove etc? be interesting to see if there is a difference there.. since the mags should all spec the same except for overall length to accomodate more rounds.....

Just took my new XDm .45 3.8 out for the first time today. I also only got 8 rounds in the mag. Did not use a mag loader or the full size mag. I trust the spring will loosen up with use. However, the gun was spot on for the 50 rounds I fired. Very happy with my XDm!!!

My XDm 45 compact was a little tight at first, never damaged the top round in the mag like others have mentioned... about 500 rds later its quite a bit easier to seat.

Nothing like I'd like it to be but we're pushing the limits of capacity with these small .45's

mine is easier...but still really tight compared to the high capacity mag... emailed Springfield about it and basically she said, call them.. get a return auth number and shipping instructions to send my handgun back and have it inspected.

Are we talking guns or girl friends?
