XDm 4.5 VS 5.25
For those of you who own both the 9mm with the 4.5" barrel and the 5.25" comp series how do the two compare? I have the 4.5" barrel now but the comp series is making me drool a little I'm thinking of upgrading if its worth it? Is there a marked improvement in accuracy? does the extra length provide for slightly flatter shooting? I'm certainly a fan of the adjustable sights, I considered a sight upgrade on my current xdm but, if someone twist my arm... Thanks guys all comments greatly appreciated!

Can't say about the 4.5" but I have 3.8" and I'm for sure more accurate w/my 5.25". I love the way my 9mm shot I purchased a .45 w/5.25" barrel.

I would think you could buy a lot of upgrades to your 4.5 for the $700 it will cost for the 5.25.

I was just thinking the same thing. I have a 3.8 and am contemplating getting either a 4.5 or 5.25. I think the 5.25 should give me enough if a variation.
I may end up with all three...

the 5.25 is my first gun i bought, it also my CCW. i figured out the best way to conceal it with an inside the belt holster. i dont have the money for a proper holster at the moment looking to get a CBST
but by positioning the stock hip holster that comes with the gun, i am using it as an IBH, it is comfortable for me, and does not feel like a chore to carry at the 5 oclock postion.i am 5' 6'' - 170lbs , i do have to wear looser less fitting shirts though.

I own XD Sub -Compact 40, XDm 4.5 .40, XDm 4.5 .45 and XDm 5.25 .45. I've replaced sights on the two XDm 4.5 .40 and .45 to Heinie slant pro. I replaced the trigger on the XDm 5.25 to Powder River Precision Xdm drop in trigger kit. I really love shooting the 5.25 .45. I love the fiber optic front sight, really helps in quickly acquiring the sight and the added benefit of the trigger job makes this a real sweet shooting firearm. The extra 3/4 inch on the 5.25 along with the trigger has made my accuracy much better. I only shoot the 5.25 in competition it's not my carry weapon.

I have both the 4.5" and the 5.25" 9mm XDm that I use for IDPA. I was always very happy with how the 4.5" performed. But the longer sight radius on the 5.25 make it more accurate for the longer shots. I like the factory sights and haven't touched them.
