i figured out when you have 2 eyes open, you see (well I see) two guns, i am right eye, right hand dominant, so i when closed my right eye and the sight picture is of the gun/hand on the left, so i just opened my eye and lined up with the left side sight picture. Makes sense to me. Not sure if others see double like this but now im just so used to it, i just block out the picture i dont use (the right one). make sense?

Im also right hand/right eye but with my glock, i just concentrate on the front sight dot and line it up. I have become used to the both eyes open shooting because of my red dots on my AR. Thats where most of my tecnique and practice comes from.

i was just reading about this but can't find the link (of course). one thing to do that was in the article is to first figure out which eye is your dominant eye. then take a piece of scotch tape and put it over the lens of your non-dominate eye. that will get you used to shooting with both eyes open and you can progress from there with not having the tape on.
the young guy in the second season of top shot did that, i always wondered what he was doing and then i read about it.

I too would like to learn more on this. I don't hold both wide open. I usually just squint my left eye but not close all the way.

At first you will have a double image of the gun/front sight, but if you are consistent in your practice with both eyes open you will get to where you have a single view. One method someone on a previous board mentioned is to find a spot on a window or your car windshield and practice looking at the spot and further out the window to objects in the distance. It won't be long before you see the spot and distant objects clearly. I decided to switch to both eyes open about 8 months ago and am very happy I did.

I do it with my shotgun all the time while shooting clays, but close my left eye quite a bit still while shooting with scopes and iron sights. I can do it but it feels un natural, i need to just suck it up and make myself do it all the time.

I use the front sight exactly like you would a red dot on an AR-15. Both eyes open, look for the front dot and let it float in space, move the dot on target and take the shot.
