XDm .45c 3.8 Day One

Picked up my new XDm .45c today and after a quick wipe down at the LGS proceeded to run a box of 50 FMJ and a mag of hp through it. My first .45 and I already love it. The kick is a little more than my .40's but it doesn't seem to snap ^ quite as much as they do.

I shot it at 3, 5, 7 and 25 yds. It was quite accurate (probably much more than I am ) at every distance.

My only issue was that it was VERY difficult to get the 9th round in the short mag, and if I put 1 in the pipe and 9 in the short mag I couldn't get the short mag to seat and lock in place.

I've loaded 9 into the mag and am letting it sit in hopes that it will loosen up after having some tension on it foe a while. If not, I guess I'll get to check out SA's customer service.

Won't be putting it in the CC rotation til I get this resolved, but I really like the way it shoots so far.

Not sorry about selling my M&P 9c to help finance it at all. (I'm not ragging on M&P's at all. I'll never get rid of my .40c )

Can't wait to get back to the range and get more familiar with my new baby.

Usually letting a round sit in the mag to compress the spring doesn't work. You have to exercise the magazine by loading and unloading it (or loading and shooting it)
My 9mm had the same problem with the 16th round until it loosened up. You just gotta break in the gun, and that includes the magazines.

I love mine. it's a lot softer shooter than my G23. I highly recommend it.

For some reason I just didn't shoot the 9c as well as i do my 40c or my xdm 9c, so I felt I could let it go.

I just finished watching a Hickok 45 video where he was talking about how he didn't ever fill the 45 mags all the way to the last one. He would carry 8 in a 9 round mag.

He certainly knows more about this type stuff than I ever will, I guess I'll follow his advice and go with 8 in the mag and one in the pipe.

.
If it is too hard to load by hand, there is a speed loader that should have came with the gun in the box. And if you have problems of it seating, then give it a tap

i was using the loader and it was still nearly impossible. While i'm not as young as i once was I don't believe i'd fall into the feeble category quite yet.

Funny, I sold my M&P9c to fund my .45c purchase 2 weeks ago as well. The only similar issue I have been having is that with one in the chamber and a full 9 round mag in place it is nearly impossible to release the mag without pushing the mag in further. The 9 rounds put a large amount of tension on the mag release.

When my XDm 9c was new I would have the same problem with the 13 round mag. It has gotten better with time and is hardly noticeable now.

Talking Xdm 3.8 .45

Just got my new xdm 3.8 in .45acp. Also having the same problems with the 9 round mag, adding that 9th round makes in nearly impossible to get the mag to seat in the mag well, when you do finally get it to seat, it's a buger to get the mag back out. Also is anyone else having problems with the included paddle holster...mine scratches the heck out of the left side of the slide near the front sight. What would you recommend as a replacement holster paddle type for concealed carry? So far i am highly enthused with this purchase with no problems at all.
